For every farmer, it is always an exciting day when that first new tractor arrives. One of our neighbors, George Newton, in the picture is sporting his new John Deere D with a big old smile on his face. I remember often going past the Newton farm and the whole lineup of machinery was that beautiful John Deere Green.

Farmers sure were brand loyal, it seems almost to the point of fanaticism. You were a Deere man, an International man, a Massey man, a Cockshutt man and your faith in your chosen brand was unwavering. The other guys were to be mocked or hated. Sort of a Ford vs Chevy, Canon vs Nikon, or Apple vs Samsung thing, only on steroids.
